Philadelphia Wedding

When a Wedding Feels Like You

Some weddings are memorable because of how much they contain. Others because of how naturally everything comes together.

This Philadelphia wedding had a clear point of view from the beginning: black, ivory, and nude tones, white and green flowers, dramatic candlelight, fruit on the tables, stone and marble accents. The inspiration was part Ralph Lauren, part Vogue, part European chic — but the result felt personal rather than referential.

That distinction made all the difference.

A Day in Three Places

The day began at the Rodin Museum, where the first look took place among architecture, sculpture, and gardens. It was a quiet beginning before the grandeur of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, where the ceremony followed.

For the first look, Gianna wore a fitted French-style satin gown. For the ceremony, she added a dramatic ballgown overskirt — kept as a surprise for Mike until she entered the church.

Later, the overskirt came off. A neck scarf changed the look again. Eventually, the gown gave way to a mini dress made for dancing.

The clothes evolved with the day, rather than defining it.

The Details That Made It Theirs

Among all the considered details were a few that carried meaning beyond aesthetics.

Gianna wore her grandmother’s wedding band. Mike gave her father vintage dime cufflinks, a reference to a family tradition of finding dimes left behind by her grandfather.

At dinner, Jordan almonds nodded to Gianna’s Italian heritage, while handmade place cards with tassels and a DIY seating chart added something personal to the table.

There was also a little humor: cookies reading “You’re Next!” waiting at the seats of the other engaged women attending the wedding.

The details were sophisticated, but never too serious.

The wedding doesn’t have to follow the trend

When we asked the bride what advice she would give other couples, her answer was simple: don’t get caught up in trends. Do what is authentic to you. Be grateful for your love, your day, and what you have. Don’t compare your wedding to someone else’s.

It is probably some of the best advice a bride can give.

There is so much available to look at now that it can become difficult to tell the difference between inspiration and expectation. A wedding can begin to feel like a collection of references rather than an expression of the people getting married.

To all the fellow wedding vendors – Thank you so much for being a part of this wedding day! We loved working with you. We sincerely appreciate everyone involved and all the effort put in to make this day special.
