Most of you will remember the blog post about Stephen’s epic proposal on top of Wentworth Mansion, overlooking Downtown Charleston at sunset. If not, click here to get up to date before you continue reading. I promise it’s so worth it!!
So, when Kerrison reached out to me a couple weeks after their engagement, asking if I was still available on her wedding day I jumped for joy. Both are so sweet, have a great sense of humor and are just totally adorable together. I already know that she will be the most stunning and beautiful bride!
For their engagement session,
Kerrison was dreaming about a shot on the famous white bridge at Magnolia Gardens. If you have ever been there you know why. Since Kerrison and Stephen were both born and raised in Charleston, what could be more suitable than one of its iconic plantations, right? Magnolia Gardens is also one of our favorite plantations in the Charleston area and the perfect location for a romantic engagement session. Well, it’s pretty popular and can get crowded with tourists too, so always make sure to be there really early 😉
When Martin and I arrived in the bridal suite where Kerrison was getting ready, Helen Barfield — Ladies let me tell you, this girl has some serious skills — already worked her magic with Kerrison’s hair. Christine Aprile — also an extraordinary and exceptionally talented hair and makeup artist in town — added the final touch for a stunning look and we were ready to go.
Only drawback?
The cruel heat, paired with Charleston’s crushing humidity –> instant sweating and the urge to not move at all… Good thing we could always go back to the little bridal suite where a tiny mobile AC somehow managed to cool down the entire room. Stephen was probably the most thankful for this option and whenever I promised we’ll go to the suite after the next pose, his face brightened up immediately. We took four air-conditioning breaks during our session 😀 But when you are in love, even the unbearable conditions I just described couldn’t stop Kerrison and Stephen from being so cute together. The way they interacted was just adorable and made my heart smile – and also made my job really easy 😉 Oh and despite the many tourists, we managed to get the most important shot!!
A big thank you to the two Ladies that helped Kerrison getting ready in the morning and also to the two lovebirds for being such troupers out in the heat. I really can’t wait for your big day!
