The first time I met Julie was at the hair salon where she works. After wearing my hair long for almost my entire life I was ready for a change and wanted to cut it all off. To be honest, part of that decision was prompted by one of my brides who looked stunning with her really short hair and I was wondering if I would look as cute as her 😀
Since this was a big deal for me – as it is for most women, I loved my long hair and would usually only agree to the tiniest trim – I asked around for the best hairdresser in town. Well, I ended up with Julie and honestly, I hit the jackpot with her. For the first time in my life, I walked out of a salon a happy girl with a short bob wondering why I didn’t cut my hair sooner.
A couple weeks later…
Julie reached out to me telling me that she and her husband Derek just bought a brand-new home. Their very first own house!! I can only imagine how exciting it must feel to buy a house and Julie came up with the idea to take some pictures for their friends and families. I looooved the idea. Usually I take maternity pictures, pictures of brand-new family members or — of course — wedding pictures. Those are all big changes in someone’s life – but I never thought about taking photographs when a couple is celebrating their new home.
Most people are a little overwhelmed when it comes to the right outfit selection before a photo session but Julie just hit the nail on the head. She was wearing a casual jean overall that fit perfectly to the ‘just moved in theme’ we were going for. Honestly, I would have never thought about it. Julie and Derek were so adorable, in love – they are kind of newlyweds too!! – and over the moon excited about their beautiful home.
I wish you only the best and a wonderful start in your new brand new life. See you soon for my next haircut 😉
